The "Number of Listings" shows the supply, or how many properties are for sale in Thurston County. Is the inventory of listings increasing or decreasing, and can you see a seasonal trend?

Our Opinion of what it means:
April 2009: As of the first week in April there are 1,551 active listings up slightly from 1,536 listings in March. Typically the number of listings goes up as spring arrives, but the relatively unchanged number in listings may be attributed to the increased home sales and the government's efforts to keep foreclosures off the market. The number of listings has remained relatively steady for four months now and is reminiscent of the market three years ago. Buyers: A relatively large inventory gives you a lot of options for purchasing your home or investment properties. Background:
The number of properties for sale is seasonal. Each year, in Thurston County Real Estate, December and January have the fewest number of homes for sale, because people don't like to show their homes during the winter months. And each year, the highest number of homes for sale is in the summer, because it is more convenient to sell your home in the summer. Note this repeating annual pattern in the above graph.
